Kenya Airline Pilots Association has issued a 14-day strike notice.

In a letter sent to the Kenya Airways Managing Director Allan Kilavuka on Wednesday, the pilots alleged harassment and leadership issues.

"In this regard and pursuant to Section 76 of the Labour Relations Act 2007, we hereby notify you of our members' intention to strike in 14 days from the date of this letter," the letter reads.

It was signed by KALPA general secretary and CEO Muriithi Nyagah.

The pilots' union said it has raised the issues on several occasions but they have remained unresolved.

It said it sought audience with the KQ leadership so as to address the issues to no avail.

Other issues raised by the pilots include alleged non-adherence to regulations, non-implementation of their CBA and signed agreements.

The union accuses the KQ management of continued breach of the Kenya Civil Aviation Regulations (KCARs) clauses in the CBA and binding agreements.

It cited local night violations, appointment of unqualified office holders and administration of KCARS and non-adherence to Clause 11 of the CBA fleet agreement.

Other concerns raised by the captains include breach of regulations on Staff Provident Fund and unjust deduction of interest on the Ab initio loans.

They also allege that their staff providence fund was withdrawn in violation of the terms and conditions of service and the CBA between KALPA and Kenya Airways.

The letter was copied to the outgoing Transport CS James Macharia, outgoing Labor CS Simon Chelugui, COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli and Executive Director and CEO of Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) Jacqueline Mugo.

Other receivers are Kenya Airways Board of Directors and KALPA members.
