Popular 'man of God' charged with defiling girl aged 10 in Kibera

He faces a second count of committing an indecent act with a minor.

A popular bishop who leads a gospel ministry within Kibera was on Monday charged at a Kibera court for defiling a 10-year-old girl.

Stephen Wanyonyi Munyolo was charged before Kibera chief magistrate Ann Mwangi where he denied the charges.

The charge sheet read in court says that the accused person committed the offence on diverse dates between September 8 and October 2022 at Silanga in Kibera, Lang'ata subcounty.

He was charged with the second count of committing an indecent act with the minor contrary to the law.

The man of cloth is married to two wives together with who he has 14 children.

The court, however, heard that had been defiling the girl on numerous occasions. 

The prosecution did not, however, object to his release on bond but called for a tough bail terms.

The magistrate released him on a Sh300,000 bond with the surety of the same amount with no cash bail.

The accused person then asked to know if he could use his tittle deed to bail out himself which the court agreed to.

The magistrate directed that the matter be mentioned on October 28 for further directions.
