Police hunt for suspect in shooting of Ida Odinga's bodyguard

Barack Onyango Odour was shot dead in the wee hours of Friday near his home in Kisumu.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect behind the fatal shooting of Ida Odinga's bodyguard early Friday. 

In a statement on Friday, National Police Service said they are investigating the incident.

"The National Police Service confirms an incident that resulted in the death of a police officer who was shot dead in Kisumu in cold blood. The incident is under active investigations. The assailant is on the run and he is being pursued," the statement read.

Barack Onyango Odour was in the company of a woman and a man when he was confronted by the assailant. 

Police said the suspect escaped with the dead officer's firearm after the shooting.

A second victim who was also shot by the suspect is admitted in the hospital receiving treatment.

Police have called on Kenyans to be vigilant and provide any information  to security agencies which may aid in the arrest of the shooter.
