Fuel prices have dropped marginally in the October review by the energy regulator EPRA.

The authority announced on Friday that a litre of super petrol had dropped by a shilling while that of diesel and kerosene went down by Sh2 and Sh1 respectively.

A litre of petrol will now retail at Sh178.30, diesel at Sh163 while kerosene will go for Sh146.94 in Nairobi as from Friday midnight.

"A subsidy of Sh18.15 per litre and Sh27.47 per litre has been maintained for diesel and kerosene respectively in order to cushion consumers from the otherwise high prices," director general Daniel Kiptoo said in a statement.

He said the government will use the Petroleum Development Levy to compensate oil marketing companies for the difference in cost.

The new prices will remain in effect until midnight, November 14, 2022.

Fuel prices hit a record high during the September prices review by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority after the government partially removed subsidies.

The energy regulator said that it had removed the subsidy for super petrol while retaining a smaller subsidy for diesel and kerosene.
