Impunity reloaded? Karua reacts after DPP dropped Aisha Jumwa's graft case

The CS nominee was being accused of misappropriating Sh19m CDF funds.

Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has sensed a foul play in the withdrawal of Sh19m graft charges facing Public service and genre CS nominee Aisha Jumwa.

Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji dropped the charges on Wednesday.

While reacting to the move, Karua tweeted:

"Impunity reloaded? but see no evil, hear no evil."

The CS nominee was being accused of misappropriating Sh19m CDF funds.

She also faced other charge 0f murder.

Jumwa was nominated as Public Service and Gender cabinet secretary by President William Ruto.

She is among the 22 cabinet secretaries nominated to serve in Ruto's government.

The nominees will be vetted by the National Assembly before they assume office as part of the requirements to enforce ethics and integrity.

Azimio MPs have vowed to conduct a gruelling vetting process for the 22 nominees.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission on Tuesday said it was compiling reports on the suitability of each of the nominees to block those with questionable integrity.

On Thursday, Haji also withdrew the Sh400 million graft case against former Kenya Power MD Ben Chumo and 10 others.

Chumo had been charged alongside Muwa Company Limited.

He was 2018 charged in court for willful failure to comply with procurement procedures in the purchase of transformers.
