Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has affirmed that the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) will not be scraped off.
Speaking on Wednesday at Cemastea Research Institute, Gachagua said the government will review and improve CBC.
"CBC is going nowhere, it is not being repealed, it is only going to be improved," said.
He presided over the launch of a three-day induction for the Education Reforms Taskforce.
The 49-member task force was constituted by President William Ruto to review the CBC.
The task force will evaluate the CBC which has been the bone of contention in the education sector.
The task force will be submitting a report to the President every two months.
The team consists of Vice-chancellors, Gitahi Kiama, Paul Wainaina, and former private school heads Mutheu Kasanga among others.
Gachagua also thanked outgoing education CS George Magoha for his commitment and patriotism to ensuring CBC works.
"We want to assure you we are not in a hurry to get rid of you, take your time. This is your country, this is your government," Gachagua said.
Ruto nominated Ezekiel Machogu to be the next education CS.
If approved by Parliament, Machogu's most immediate task will be to implement CBC reforms.
There has been a debate about whether the curriculum should remain in place or be scrapped.
Outgoing Education CS George Magoha had exuded confidence that President William Ruto will not scrap CBC. Magoha said Ruto assured the education stakeholders that CBC will not be scrapped.
"I thank the president for having assured us severally that CBC is going nowhere and we will be working to ensure it survives," he said.
He tasked the Munavu-led task force to prioritise children in all their decisions.
"Ruto said it is better to focus on the child. To the committee, whatever decision you make the focus should be the child."
