Absa Bank appoints new chief marketing officer

Carolyne Kendi will take over from Ruth Kamengere who has been the acting officer.

Absa Bank has picked Carolyne Kendi for the position of Chief Marketing officer effective December 15, 2022.

She will take over from Ruth Kamengere who has been the acting officer.

Prior to her appointment, she was the head of financial crime operations and controls at the bank.

Kendi is set to bring onboard a wealth of experience in the practice of marketing and brand building having worked in multiple industries and markets across East, West and Southern Africa.

These include lending corporates such as Unilever, Diageo and Safaricom where she currently holds the head position of segment marketing and Go-To market strategy.

She will be expected to play a role in leading the next phase of the company’s brand growth journey.

“As we support the country’s economic transformation, she will be responsible for providing direction and oversight in the strategic areas of brand, marketing, communications and corporate relations,” the lender said.

Kendi holds an MBA in Strategic Management from the United States International University – Africa, a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Nairobi and a Post Graduate Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM-UK).
