Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has said there is need to increase awareness on the importance of participating in exhibitions and trade fairs.

He said the fairs represent a networking and brainstorming opportunity, which will help to grow the country's economy.

Sakaja spoke on Tuesday when he attended the ongoing Nairobi International Trade Fair for the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) at Jamhuri Show Ground.

"It offers connections for business and partnership, and it is, therefore, crucial to increase awareness amongst producers, users and suppliers about the importance of participating in quality exhibitions such as this Trade Fair," he said.

Sakaja added that the fairs also provide platform for governments and communities across the world to discuss agriculture and trade systems, identifying ways to strengthen them.

Nairobi Deputy Governor Njoroge Muchiri was also in attendance.

The two leaders toured various stands including the Nairobi City County stand which showcased innovative works currently being undertaken by the Countys' ten sectors.

On Wednesday, President William Ruto is expected to officially open the show, which is set to end on Sunday.
