NARC Kenya leader Martha Karua has congratulated Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir after his swearing-in in Mombasa.

In a statement on Thursday, Karua celebrated Nassir for being elected Mombasa Governor.

"Congrats Abdulswamad Nassir on your ascension as Governor of Mombasa County," she said.

Nassir takes over from Hassan Ali Joho who led the county for ten years.

He was sworn into office together with his deputy Francis Foleni Thoya.

He took an oath of office at the Mama Ngina Waterfront Park.

Nassir was declared the winner of the Mombasa gubernatorial elections held on August 29.

He garnered 119,083 votes against his closest rival former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar of UDA who polled 98,105.
