Jomvu MP-elect Twalib decries voter apathy in governor polls

Most polling stations in Mombasa experienced low voter turnout.

Jomvu MP-elect Badi Twalib has likened Monday's governor elections in Mombasa to a by-election due to the low voter turnout. 

He said despite the low turnout in such isolated elections, they did their best to inform residents to come out in large numbers and cast their ballots.

"I have faith that by the end of the day, our candidate will be the new governor of Mombasa," he said.

The MP-elect was ODM's party representative in Jomvu constituency.

He took charge of whipping party supporters to come out in large numbers to come out in large numbers and vote for their candidate Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir.

"I have a proper team led by myself, Lilian Gogo from Ragwe and senator Mohammed Faki who I'm working together with in a coordinated way," Twalib said.

He commended the IEBC saying the voting process was faster.

Twalib, who cast his vote at World Bank Primary polling station, said that security was good and worked towards ensuring that there was smooth and peaceful voting process.

Twalib was re-elected to represent Jomvu constituency in the August polls for the third term.

He was confident and expressed faith in his supporters saying they will not let him down in supporting the ODM candidate.

Polling closed by 5pm in most polling stations.
