Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has warned teachers against sending students away from school due to lack of fees.

Speaking on Wednesday during the commissioning of CBC classrooms at Muhuri Muchiri Secondary School in Njiru, Nairobi County, the CS noted that teachers are keeping students out of school due to a lack of fees.

"My message this morning is about a few teachers who are still sending children home,  it leaves a  bitter taste in the mouth," Magoha said.

"If someone is struggling and have paid all the fees for the whole year and only has a balance of only Sh30,000 and the parent is assuring you that they will pay as you move along and you feel compelled that the child has to go home, I think that is not proper and it's not human," Magoha added.

He noted that the CBC classrooms completion of phase two is at 85 per cent. Most of the incomplete classrooms are at roofing or walling level.

Magoha said most counties are at 100 per cent construction apart from a few counties in the Western, Rift Valley and Coast regions.

According to the ministry of Education, 2.57 million students will be enrolled for Grade 6 and Form 1 during the double intake in January.
