Women leaders have called for speedy investigations into the murder of the Embakasi East Returning Officer Daniel Musyoka.
The leaders from the African Women Leaders Network, Women Mediation Network Kenya and Echo Network Africa, said it is imperative to find the perpetrators of the serious crime.
In a press briefing on Tuesday, Jenifer Riria, CEO of Echo Network Africa, said that Musyoka's death was painful to them as mothers.
"We call upon our security apparatus to move quickly with investigations and bring the murderers of our children to book," she said.
"As mothers, we are in pain this morning because one of us, mother to our son the late Daniel Musyoka is a broken Mother after losing her son who was only doing his job," she added.
Musyoka went missing during the tallying of votes in Embakasi East Constituency and was found dead on Monday 15 in Oloitoktok, Kajiado County.
"We feel the pain of these dear sisters and pray that no other life is lost because of a mere General Election," Riria said.
She appealed to Kenyans of goodwill and faith leaders to earnestly pray for the country so that God will grant continued calm and peace during this period.
"As the womb bearers and mothers of the nation we are confident that with God’s help, our country will get over this phase. God bless Kenya," she concluded.
