Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has moved to court seeking bail pending his arrest following allegations of shooting dead his opponent's aide.

The application comes 20 hours after the Director of Public Prosecutions ordered his arrest.

Barasa through Lawyer John Khaminwa says no investigations have been conducted but he has already been branded as the perpetrator.

He accused the media of scandalizing the issue.

The negative publicity, he says, poses a risk to his life, the reason why he is asking the court to grant him bail.

"According to a reliable source, the deceased was part of a hit squad that was deployed from Nairobi and was in fact killed by a stray bullet due to wrangles with his confidants," says Barasa.

The MP says the reports that he shot dead Brian Olunga, on August 9 at Chebukwabi Polling Station are affecting his safety.

Olunga was a bodyguard to Brian Khaemba.
