Former senator David Musila,  who is running for Kitui governor on Jubilee Party, has faulted the IEBC stating he has no faith that the ongoing elections will be free and fair.

Speaking moments after casting his vote at AIC Migwani Primary School, Mwingi West, Musila alleged that his agents were locked out of the polling stations in most polling centres in Mwingi North.

"I have no agents in most polling centres of Mwingi North and while I enquired I was told the classrooms that are the polling centres are too small to accommodate all agents," he said.

Musila added that his agents also represent Azimio One Kenya flag-bearer Raila Odinga.

Musila said locals have turned out in large numbers to cast their votes but it is of no use because according to him, there are election irregularities that will lead to unfair elections, especially in the gubernatorial seat in Kitui county.

"It's of no use to turn out to cast votes when we have no agents in our polling centres and especially in Mwingi North," he said.

He added that voters are frustrated, especially the elderly and the illiterate who do not have anyone to direct them as he has no agents.

The former Senator added that he has no confidence in the IEBC because his complaints were ignored.

"I raised my concerns to the county returning officer and also written a letter to Wafula Chebukati that I was not comfortable in the elections that are currently going on but I did not get any answer," he added.

Efforts to reach Mwingi North Returning Officer Martin Malonza to clarify the accusations were futile as his phone was off.

David Musila is battling to succeed Charity Ngilu, who is not contesting for the seat, alongside Kitui first Governor Julius Malombe on Wiper ticket and Jonathan Mueke, under the UDA party.
