Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has called out Interior minister Fred Matiang'i and his permanent secretary Karanja Kibicho for election interference.

The senator says the two have plans to rig the August 9 Elections in favour of Azimio candidates in Nairobi.

Sakaja claimed a meeting was held at a Nairobi Hotel last week where chiefs and county commanders were instructed to collect national identity cards from citizens and pay them with the intention of voter suppression in UDA strongholds within the county.

"Chiefs should keep off with the election process. Your work is to provide security and ensure Kenyans are receiving services from the national government, stop being used to interfere with elections," Sakaja said.

He was accompanied by other Kenya Kwanza Nairobi candidates.

However, Kibicho on Sunday dismissed the allegations urging politicians to shun spreading propaganda.

"The allegations that are spreading of buying Identification Cards to rig elections are not true. There  is no need for us to buy IDs. Why should we  buy IDs? When politicians talk they should have proof and be truthful," he said.

He urged politicians to be mindful of their utterances during the election period.

The Nairobi Senator also pointed out to DCI director George Kinoti who he said is using his office to intimidate IEBC from performing their constutitional duties and delaying the election process.

"Why is Kinoti bullying IEBC? This is an abuse of his office and we shall not torelate any interfereance to the election process by anyone" Sakaja added.
