President Uhuru Kenyatta's tour of Nakuru yet again played host to a light moment on Wednesday.

The remark interrupted Uhuru's speech. He paused and responded "I love you too" sparking a peal of thunderous laughter among the attendees.

The President also joined the attendees in laughing for seconds before he continued with his speech.

Uhuru was addressing residents on the benefits of the project he was commissioning.

He said the Kisumu-Nakuru meter gauge railway will create employment for 25,000 youth from the area.

Nakuru-Kisumu Railway stretches up to 217km long, while the Longonot-Malaba stretches up to 465km long.

He urged Kenyans to shun leaders with divisive politics and embrace peace and unity ahead of the August 9, general elections.

Uhuru added that as a peace-loving leader, he desires to leave his position knowing that the Kenyan citizens are living together peaceful regardless of their ethnic and religious backgrounds.

He also urged them to vote wisely for development-minded leaders.

"I want us to have leaders who will stand for justice. Let us go for leaders who are respectful and honest. The most important thing is for Kenyans to unite and uphold peace. Without peace and unity, the country will not achieve its development goals."

He further said he has always been keen on ensuring inclusivity and equitable development across the country.
