Interior CS Fred Matiang'i on Wednesday presided over the pass-out parade for paramilitary officers at Embakasi.

The Assistant County Commissioners (ACC) at National Police College, Embakasi A Campus, had been trained skills and knowledge to counter drugs, radicalisation and other key challenges.

Speaking during the event, Matiang'i congratulated the officers for having completed the course successfully.

He said it was a great initiative by the Government since the president inherited a huge backlog of untrained officers who were expected to serve Kenyans.

"Some of the problems that we used to have we no longer have them, thanks to the president for strengthening the security forces," Matiang'i said.

He noted that the government had also addressed the challenges of mobility and accommodation that had been a thorn in the flesh for the officers.

"We also have offices in which we can serve the people effectively," he said.

On elections, the CS urged citizens to cooperate and work together with security officers to ensure smooth and peaceful elections on August 9.

"Elections come and go and there will be life after August 9. Kenya should be here if not for us then for our children's children," he said.
