Four dead in grisly road accident in Machakos

Four people died in a road accident in Machakos County on Wednesday morning.

Machakos deputy police commander Mose Nthiwa said those who died included three adults and a child.

Nthiwa said the accident happened at Kithini in Machakos sub-county.

The police boss said the vehicle was overloaded, it had seventeen passengers during the 9 am incident.

"The vehicle lost control and overturned. Three passengers, all adults, died on the spot while one juvenile lost his life at Machakos Level 5 Hospital," Nthiwa said.

Nthiwa said all the injured were admitted to Machakos Level 5 Hospital.

He said some of the occupants were treated at the same hospital and discharged in stable condition.

Nthiwa said the wreckage of the vehicle was towed to Machakos police station pending inspection while bodies were moved to the same hospital's mortuary. 

He appealed to motorists to be cautious while on the road to avoid unnecessary accidents.

Nthiwa said motorists should adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
