Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has told off the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti that he will not be intimidated by threats of arrest.

In a statement on Friday, Sakaja insisted that no form of intimidation will change the will of the people of Nairobi to have new leadership.

Threats of arrest and persecution by the state will not intimidate us or change the will of the people of Nairobi. Our resolve remains firm,” he said on Facebook.

Sakaja maintained that his qualifications are legit, alleging that the relevant institutions have refused to play along to the DCI boss' 'games'.

“Bwana DCI Kinoti, I'm at my Riverside office, karibu or let me know if you'd like me to come over. our office will not install a project on the people of Nairobi,” he stated.

Sakaja was responding to Kinoti who on Thursday said that they are investigating whether Sakaja is part of an international crime syndicate following the controversy surrounding his degree certificate.

While Speaking to the Daily Nation, Kinoti stated that the authorities are planning to lodge a legal suit against the Senator If found culpable of forging his university papers.

"We will not surrender our capital city to frauds. We will involve all international agencies in investigating and prosecuting anyone involved in academic fraud," he said.

Sakaja’s candidature for Nairobi Governor has been hanging on the balance after four complaints were filed with the IEBC Dispute Resolution Committee challenging the credibility of the academic papers he presented to the commission for clearance.

During the hearing, his lawyers pushed for the dismissal of cases whose complainants were not present in court.

Three out of the four complaints lodged against the first-term senator were dismissed.

Evans Kaita, Alex Abere and Elizabeth Nzisa, wanted the Committee to revoke Sakaja's clearance to vie for the Nairobi governor seat on grounds that he lacks the requisite academic qualifications to contest for the seat.

The Disputes committee also dismissed a letter from the Commission For University Education rescinding recognition of  Sakaja's degree.

The High court in a Judicial review case also suspended the CUE's decision to revoke the recognition of Sakaja's degree.

The court directed CUE to maintain the validity of Sakaja's degree pending further direction by the court.

The Court also blocked the IEBC from striking out the name of Sakaja from the list of candidates cleared to vie for the governor's seat.

However, the tribunal said Sakaja will know the fate of his candidature on Sunday at 2 pm.
