Kenya records 390 cases of Covid, positivity rate at 16 per cent

Kenya has recorded 390 new cases of Covid-19, from a sample size of 3,353.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Health, the positivity rate is now at 11.6 per cent.

Of the cases, 353 are Kenyans while 37 are foreigners. 202 are females and 188 males.

The youngest is a one-year-old, while the oldest is 101 years old.

The total number of confirmed positive cases is 328,709, and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,717,333.

"Today, 163 patients have recovered from the disease, 162 are from the Home-Based and Isolation Care Program while one is from a health facility," Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said.

The total recoveries are at 320,146, of whom 267,094 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,052 are from various health facilities countrywide. 

Kagwe said no patient has succumbed to the disease, therefore, the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,651.

There are 52 patients currently admitted to health facilities, while 2,860 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

Three patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and on supplemental oxygen, while seven are in General Wards.

No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

In terms of County distribution; Nairobi had 274 cases, Kiambu 37, Nakuru 20, Siaya 10 and Kilifi has nine cases.

Mombasa and Murang’a counties recorded eight cases each, Nyeri has seven, Laikipia recorded four, Uasin Gishu got three cases, while Bungoma, Kisumu and Nyamira recorded two cases each.

Furher, Busia, Embu, Meru and Nyandarua have one case each.
