Tujibebe party Kiambu Governor candidate William Kabogo and his CCK counterpart Moses Kuria were a no-show at the Kenya Kwanza Alliance rally in Kiambu on Thursday.

UDA party presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua led the campaigns under the banner "Mt Kenya Express" flanked by UDA leaders and candidates only.

Kabogo and Kuria were absent despite gracing the preceding rallies.

Gachagua is said to have campaigned for a six-piece voting pattern in favour of UDA, a move that angered affiliate parties' aspirants.

In what is sprouting as an acrimonious fallout among parties making up the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, Kuria and Kabogo tellingly spent time together as Gachagua crisscrossed the county in the hunt for votes

While revealing their meeting, Kuria shared images of him and Kabogo having a sitting at an undisclosed location.

He accompanied the images with a coded message: "Kiambu is in safe hands #Hatupangwingwi".

As if they had planned on a twin post, Kabogo shared the same images with the same caption, only that he added "...na msitujaribu".

The indirect messaging comes hot on the heels of a standoff that marred the Kenya Kwanza rally on Wednesday in the same county.

Area senator Kimani Wamatangi, who is eyeing the governor seat, was engaged in a public spat with Kabogo.

At the centre of their confrontation were allegations that the UDA party had planned to embarrass leaders not vying on a UDA party ticket.

Kabogo is also alleged to have been denied a microphone by Wamatangi prompting him to use his personal one to engage the Senator.

While reacting to the chaotic incident, Kuria exonerated Kabogo from the blame and appeared to confirm allegations that there was a plot to psych them out.

"I will not apportion blame to any of the two gentlemen but I can relate to Kabogo's pain. For three days the UDA leadership has been meeting UDA MP and MCA candidates to plot how to embarrass Kabogo and me during the tour.," he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday evening.

Kuria added that the MCAs and MPs who associate with them were warned of dire consequences.

"This chicanery is not healthy for our fledgling alliance. It is imperative that we live with not only the letter but also the spirit of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance," he added.

Kuria said unless the Alliance allied leaders lived their theme, theirs will be politics of conmanship and deceit.

The Chama Cha Kazi leader said they will be raising the concerns with the Alliance principals as provided for in the Alliance instruments.
