Leaders mourn Rabai MP William Kamoti

Kamoti was serving his second term and had on Sunday been cleared by the IEBC to vie for the Rabai MP seat for the third term.

Kenyan leaders have been sending messaages of condolence to the family of Rabai MP William Kamoti who passed away on Saturday. 

Kamoti died after his car was involved in an accident at stage ya Maziwa in Mnarani near Kilifi town along the Mombasa-Malindi highway.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred at around 9.30 pm.

Kamoti was serving his second term and had on Sunday been cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to vie for the Rabai MP seat for the third term.

He was elected on an ODM ticket in 2017.

National Assembly speaker Justin Muturi said his passing on has robbed Kilifi County and the assembly a progressive leader who passionately answered to his call of duty as a lawmaker.

"Deeply saddened by the demise of Rabai MP, the Hon.William Kamoti Mwamkale, who passed on last night through a grisly road accident along the Mombasa- Malindi road. Our heartfelt sympathies and prayers to his family, friends and the people of Rabai Constituency," he said.

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho said Kamoti was a humble and cheerful man who will also be remembered as a fearless leader who represented the great people of Rabai constituency zealously.
