Kanu chairman Gideon Moi will not appear before the Azimio Coalition party panel that is seeking ODM leader Raila Odinga's running mate.

The party's Secretary for Political Affairs Fredrick Okango Secretary said the Baringo Senator has ceded his nomination to Kalonzo Musyoka.

Moi was scheduled to appear before the panel of eminent persons on Monday at 3 pm.

"Our national chairman was for some reason shortlisted to appear before the panel of eminent persons. We have received instructions from our national chairman that he will not be appearing," Okango told journalists at Serena, the venue of the vetting.

"While he is suitable, capable to be the running mate of Raila Amolo Odinga but on this one, he is not going to appear having endorsed Kalonzo Musyoka."

According to Okango, the independence party has already written to the panel stating Moi's new position.
