Jubilee gubernatorial aspirant in Murang’a County Jamleck Kamau has unveiled Dr Naomi Njeri Kagone as his running mate ahead of the August election.

During an event that was held at the Blue Post Hotel, Kamau said having a lady as his deputy will help to bridge the gender gap in society.

In 2017, he contested for the same seat but lost to incumbent Mwangi Wa Iria during party nominations.

He is now facing off against Irungu Kanga’ta (UDA), Irungu Nyakera (Farmers party), Former PS Wairagu Wa Mai among others.

Kagone holds a Bachelor of Education degree from Kenyatta University and a second degree in International Business Studies from USIU Kenya.

She also has a Master of Science Degree and Doctor of Philosophy in Entrepreneurship, both from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

She is currently the CEO of Poise Business Development Consulting Ltd and the Director of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Murang'a Chapter.

“I’m optimistic that our joint effort will help to transform Murang’a County and make it great,” Jamleck said.

Kagone hails from Mathioya Constituency in Kiru ward.

She expressed confidence that the people of Murang’a County will elect them to continue with the empowerment programs.

“I know the people of Murang’a will elect us in the August election,” she said.

Kamau hails from the Kigumo constituency in Murang’a South.

Since 2013, the politics of Murang’a South has always been divided between Murang’a North and South.

In 2017, the position of the Governor and Senator came from Murang’a North.

UDA candidate Irungu Kanga’ta hails from the North and will be expected to have a running mate from the South to balance the political math.

The Murang'a governor race is being billed as a two-horse race between Kamau and Kang'ata.
