The Director of Communication in the office of the Deputy President Emmanuel Talam now claims that Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter is an Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance insider in the UDA party.

Talam who works closely with deputy president William Ruto said the Nandi Hills MP is untrustworthy.

Speaking in Taito, Nandi Hills Constituency, where he had gone to console the family of the UDA aspirant Wesley Kogo who perished in a road accident, Talam told residents not to vote for Keter.

The communications director, who vied against Keter in the 2017 Jubilee nominations and lost, claimed that the MP is disguising himself as a UDA party stalwart yet he is an  "enemy within".

"I want to warn you against MP Alfred Keter, he is not in UDA but rather opposition. If he questions this, tell him that Talam, who is in Ruto's office has claimed so," Tallam said.

"We do not want somebody who comes here asking for votes in our name but when he leaves, he speaks of how Ruto will never be the president. We dare you to come out and tell us on the face that Ruto will never be the president."

He, however, could not provide evidence of how the MP is a mole in a party where he does not seat in key decision-making meetings or even hold a leadership post.

Attempts to reach Keter on phone for a comment on the matter were futile as calls could not go through. He did not respond to this writer's messages either.

Keter, who is seeking his third term as Nandi Hills MP, is rarely seen at the DP's Karen residence but has been attending Ruto's rally when he is in Nandi county.

In a similar meeting, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi appeared to agree with Talam.

He noted that Keter is not fit to advance the agenda of the Kalenjin community as he has been siding with their opponents for his personal goals.

" I have talked to Keter but he has not listened, we don't hate him but you need to take him home for five years for him to reflect on his mistakes," Sudi said.

He added: "The reason why I stood with Ruto is not because of my own benefits and that of my family, it is because of the community...we cannot win when we are after our own stomachs. The same Uhuru we used to sing 'Uhuru Tano tena' has turned his back on us, he has whipped us seriously. I want to assure you that Ruto is going to be the president. We need all leaders to come in and support Ruto.".
