The senior judicial officer was arrested on Thursday night at a lodging within Kaplong, while in the company of a 17-year-old girl.

Bomet County police commander Esther Seroney told the Star that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives from Sotik were probing the matter.

According to a police incident report seen by the Star, a manager of one of the restaurants within Kaplong reported to the police that a male customer, in the company of a minor, had booked a room at the facility.

The client left the keys to the said room at the counter and continued to take drinks at the bar, according to the report.

At around 11 pm, the manager noticed that the customer who had booked headed to his room accompanied by a female juvenile.

"He alerted the police who rushed to the said lodging," the police report reads in part.

On arrival, the police found the suspect in his motor vehicle at the parking yard together with the said minor. The suspect was placed in police custody.

The minor was booked as a child in need of care and protection, according to the police.

On Friday morning, the suspect and the victim were escorted to Kapkatet hospital for medical examination.
