Six county commissioners reshuffled in latest changes

Reshuffle done a month after 132 deputy county commissioners were transferred in similar changes.

Six county commissioners have been reshuffled in the latest changes announced by Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho.

Kibicho announced the changes in a memo dated March 15 to Regional Commissioners. He ordered them to move immediately.

The letter seen by the Star was directed to three regional commissioners Esther Maina (Central), Mohamed Ahmed Maalim (Rift Valley) and their Nyanza counterpart Magu Mutindika.

Reference, Transfer of County Commissioners, the letter read in part, “The transfer of the under listed county commissioners has been agreed upon for immediate implementation.”

Jim Njoka was moved to Siaya from Kirinyaga, Muhumed Barre (Nyeri), Wilson Wanyanga (Kajiado), Joshua Nkanatha (Kiambu), Abdulla Hiddi (OOP Headquarters and Moses Ivuto (Kirinyaga).

Barre, Wanyanga, Nkanatha and Hiddi moved from Siaya, Kiambu, Kajiado, and Nyeri respectively while Ivuto was a Senior Deputy County Commissioner 1 in Kirinyaga West sub-county.

Kibicho also made changes to eight deputy county commissioners.

Rugino Mungania moved from Murang’a South sub-county to North Eastern as the Regional Commissioner’s personal assistant.

Kenneth Murungi who was the Nairobi Regional Commissioner’s personal assistant was transferred to Murang’a South as a deputy county commissioner.

John Mbugua (Kirinyaga West), Damaris Kimondo (Gatanga), Mary Mwangi (Imenti South), Abraham Laikera (Teso North), Geofrey Njuguna (Aberdares), while Flavia Akumu (Sabatia).

Mbugua, Kimondo, Mwangi, Laikera, Njuguna and Akumu moved from Teso North, Imenti South, Sabatia, Aberdares, Gitanga and SACC/Msambweni respectively.

The changes were effected exactly a month after 132 deputy county commissioners were re-shuffled on February 11.

They come ahead of major political developments and the August polls.

DCC are like District Commissioners in the old and defunct constitution.

Kibicho in a similar reshuffle announced the earlier changes in a memo dated February 11 to Regional Commissioners. He ordered them to move immediately.

Khalif Abdulahi was then moved to Nakuru West, Fred Sungu (Kiminini), Michael Yator (Changamwe), Meshak Mwangi (Eldas), Alinoor Duba (Bungoma Central), Felix Wafula (Ugunja), Daniel Mwendwa (Lamu East), Hussein Alason (Kisumu Central) and Victor Kamonde (Bomet Central).

Solomon Kiptoo was moved to Soy, Philip Koima (Endebes), John Maina (Githurai), Jeremiah Tumo (Pokot Central), James Koskey (Harambee House) and Reuben Kipkech to Msambweni.

 The officials are key in running government affairs in the regions, counties and sub-counties.

The changes were meant to enhance operations in the areas ahead of the polls, officials said.
