The court has allowed police to detain Zachary Nyaora Obadiah for 10 more days pending investigations.
Senior Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondieki directed the police to hold Obadiah at the Gigiri police station where the other co-accused are currently being held.
The investigating officer in an application said Obadiah is a flight risk as he had been arrested on Monday while crossing the Kenyan-Tanzania border.
The officer, Lyvonne Mwanzia, told the court that they intend to charge the accused with robbery with violence and sexual assault, both serious offences that could attract a life sentence.
"Obadiah was among a group of bodaboda riders at the Barabara Tano stage on Wangari Mathai Road," she said
"They moved to her car where they sexually assaulted the female motorist and in the process stole her iPhone 6, valued at Sh130,000."
The officer told the court she needed time to interrogate the witnesses in the case and also record a statement from Obadiah.
"I also need tome to obtain the CCTV footage from the scene of the accident and take his phone in for forensic investigations. The investigations team will need to get call data from service providers to trace his movements," she told the magistrate.
Obadiah said he took off when he saw his photos on the media as the mastermind of the assault against a female motorist on Wangari Maathai road.
