Raila to talk about Azimio at Chatham House

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will on Wednesday speak about the 2022 elections during his lecture at Chatham House.

The ODM chief, who is in a five-day tour of UK, will also address his agenda for the country.

Raila’s spokesperson Dennis Onyango said the ODM boss will also talk on the political goal of unity presented by the Azimio la Umoja coalition.

The Azimio presidential candidate will have a meeting with Lord Tarif Ahmed, the UK Minister for South Asia, North Africa, the UN and the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office on Wednesday.

In the afternoon, he will speak at Chatham House Think Tank.

“At the Commonwealth Secretariat, Odinga will speak on “The Road to Peaceful Elections in Kenya.” His address at Chatham House will be on “Kenya’s 2022 elections: Priorities for unity and policy change,” Raila’s spokesman said.

“At the two events, Odinga will share his vision for Kenya and Africa in an increasingly uncertain world and will reflect on the political goal of unity presented by the Azimio.”

Yesterday, Raila held talks with British Minister for the Armed Forces James Heappey at the Defence headquarters.

The talks which centred on security and improving ties between Kenya and UK.

The AU special envoy for Infrastructure was accompanied by Kenya's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Manoah Esipisu, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho during the meeting.

Raila taking to the social media after the meeting described UK as loyal defence and security partner.

He noted that the two countries have had strong and enduring historical relationships which shall deepen for shared prosperity and global security.

The UK has been one of Kenya's most loyal and dependable defence and security partner," Raila posted on his social media account.

"We had a robust discussion on matters pertaining security with a view of enhancing our ties moving into the future.”

Raila left the country on Sunday night and is lined up for a series of high-profile engagements.

He is scheduled to meet the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby on Thursday morning.

On the same day, the Raila will have an afternoon session with Kenyans living in the UK.
