Kenya records 19 new Covid cases, no deaths reported

The positivity rate is now at 0.6 per cent.

Kenya on Monday recorded 19 new cases of Covid-19, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said.

The CS in a press briefing confirmed that this was from a sample size of 3,293 in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate is now at 0.6%.

Kagwe said that from the cases, 16 were Kenyans while 3 are foreigners. 12 are females while 7 are males. The youngest is a 10-year-old child while the oldest is 54 years.

Total confirmed positive cases are now 323,094 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,406,413.

Kagwe said that there are no deaths. Therefore, the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,641.

As of March 6, 2022, a total of 16,883,282 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these, 7,881,767 are partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated are 7,712,482.

Another 1,029,856 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years while 259,177 are booster doses.

The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is 2,694 and those who are fully vaccinated is 1,498.

The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 64.1%.

The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 28.3 per cent. The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.

Meanwhile, 31 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 222 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. 1 patient is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is on ventilatory support.

Another 4 patients are on supplemental oxygen and all of them are in the general wards. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
