The Service Party leader Mwangi Kiunjuri has said that his party will not be joining any pre-election coalition.

Kiunjuri said he is convinced that his party does not have to be in Azimio La Umoja or Kenya Kwanza alliances to succeed.

The TSP leader spoke on Friday while addressing party members at Gilgil.

He said his party has decision making organs that have decided that it can only enter in coalitions after the general election.

Kiunjuri spoke hours after Gatundu South MP and Chama Cha Kazi leader Moses Kuria said his party was in talks with Kenya Kwanza alliance over a grand coalition.

“Chama Cha Kazi, together with 21 others, are in early talks with Kenya Kwanza. The talks will lead to a broad based grand coalition that will deliver peace and prosperity to the nation,” Kuria said on his social media platforms.

However, the TSP party leader said the coalitions have been encouraging joint nominations and party zoning that dictate regional dominance.

Kiunjuri said aspirants are the most important part of his party and that they have resolved to go all the way to the ballot.

“Any decision that will be made by the party, the highest decision-making organ, will be the aspirants’ forum,” Kiunjuri said.

He said it is the aspirants who can dictate if and how they join coalitions

“That decision cannot be made by Mwangi Kiunjuri alone. This party is bigger than I, I am only the party leader,” he said.

Kiunjuri said the party has conducted public participation to get members’ views.

He said they want to make it an outfit that will live beyond the forthcoming general election.

In the next five months, the party leader said he will continue popularising the party with an aim of getting as many aspirants as possible.

Kiunjuri said Kenyans have made it very clear that they want the prices of commodities lessened and returns from agricultural products improved.

“They want the cost of petroleum products and foodstuffs reduced and the prices of coffee and tea increased… All these other talks have little meaning to them,” he said.

Kiunjuri said the party’s aim is to have leaders who will change Kenyans’ lives once elected.

His party, he said, will not be coerced into joining any partnership saying members should not think that it is being steered from somewhere else.

“We believe in ourselves and have built a strong party. We are among the five strongest parties in the country,” Kiunjuri said.
