Jubilee Party will be fielding candidates in all elective positions, except the presidency.

This comes as the party is set to sign an MoU with Azimio La Umoja in support of ODM leader Raila Odinga's presidential bid

Speaking during an interview at KBC, Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni said the party has been strengthened and has already started grassroot mobilisations.

As Jubilee our time for politics and campaigns is now and we shall have our candidates in all positions except for the presidential ,” he said on Tuesday.

The SG explained that Jubilee had not ‘died’ but was working to deliver the party’s manifesto and the Big Four Agenda to Kenyans.

"After we won the elections in 2017, the President asked us to spend time working for the people, that’s why Jubilee was quiet in the last five years," Kioni added.

He further explained that Uhuru was categorical in 2017 that during his last term he wanted no politics before delivering on his promise to Kenyans.

“When the president called us then to State House in the presence of his deputy, he told us we have to work first and he will give direction when the politicking season comes. The time is now,” Kioni said.

Speaking on Jubilee members who defected to other parties, he explained that the party could have brought impeachment motions against them but avoided the distraction which would have divert Jubilee’s agenda.

“We avoided to bring unnecessary drama and unstableness which would have cause tension in the country and interfered with the Party’s Agenda,” the Ndaragwa MP stated.

On the handshake, Kioni noted that Uhuru wanted to know former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's interests to Kenyans and as a result, the political dynamics in the country changed more so the peaceful coexistence among Kenyans.

This where inclusivity, sharing of the national cake came about and BBI was born, he added.

"Before the handshake, teargas Monday and Tuesday became the order of the day, people couldn't do business. But all these changes after the handshake."

Kioni replaced Raphael Tuju as the ruling party's Secretary General in a new leadership hierarchy that was officially unveiled last Saturday. Kioni is deputised by Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny.

Tuju announced his exit to pursue “other political engagements.”

David Murathe retained his role as Deputy Chairperson under National Chairperson Nelson Dzuya, while Adan Keynan and Kagwe Gichohi have been named the party’s Parliamentary Secretary and National Treasurer respectively.

Ruweida Mohammed will deputise Gichohi while Mutava Musyimi has been named the party’s Deputy National Organising Secretary under Senator Abdulkadir Haji.

Wanja Maina will be in charge of the party’s persons with disability league while Njenga Mungai and Joel Kibe will run the party’s council of elders and business council respectively as national chairpersons.
