A  Class 8 pupil has been admitted to Mumoni health centre in Kitui after a botched abortion over the weekend, police have said.

The 16-year-old minor, who escaped death narrowly, delivered a 5-month lifeless male foetus after being rushed to the hospital.

According to the victim’s mother, she took her daughter to the hospital after complaining of severe abdominal pain.

After interrogation the girl later revealed that she was defiled by  her school head teacher who was responsible for the pregnancy.

Prior, the head teacher had taken her to a private clinic in Ishiara, on February 19, where she was asked to swallow some tablets and later experienced abdominal pains leading to hospitalisation.

This comes barely three months after President Uhuru Kenyatta warned men against molestation of young  girls.

“It is such a shame when, we elderly men preying on our children. We must tell each other the truth because children are not doing this by themselves, ” Uhuru said.

“Some older men are going out with girls who are even younger than their daughters."

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti said they have launched a manhunt and the perpetrators will be brought to book.

“The headteacher and the owner of the clinic have gone missing but we have launched a manhunt for both of them,” said Kinoti.
