A man was lynched by a mob after being accused of infidelity in Githogoro slums, Nairobi.

The slain man was accused of sneaking into a house for sexual favours with someone’s wife Sunday night.

Police and witnesses said the husband of the woman was away for night duties at the time of the incident but came back abruptly only to find the stranger in the house.

He raised an alarm alerting the neighbours who stoned the man to death.

Nairobi deputy police boss James Mugera said they are holding the man and three others over the incident as investigations go on.

The body of the victim was taken to the mortuary.

Police discourage mob lynching and term it criminal.

“Mob lynching is criminal and no one should participate in it at whatever cost. The suspects should be handed over to us for processing,” he said.

He said they have launched a programme to address the menace in the city.

Meanwhile, a robbery with violence suspect was Saturday night shot dead in Kawangware, Nairobi, as police intensify a crackdown on criminals and criminal gangs in the city.

The police said they recovered a gun from the suspect.

The suspect, who was part of a gang robbing pedestrians of their valuables, had just accosted a man who was headed home at around 9 pm.

It is the man’s screams of despair that attracted the cops who were on patrol along Kabiru Road.

Police shot and killed one suspect while his accomplices escaped. They recovered a firearm loaded with three rounds of 9mm calibre.

And a court in Nairobi fined five foreigners Sh400,000 each and in default to serve a one-year jail term for the offence of engaging in business without a work permit.

The five Chinese nationals were arrested by a multi-agency team from DCI and Immigration Services at a Construction Company in Nairobi County.

The court ruled that the convicts will be repatriated after completion of their jail term or payment of a fine.
