Azimio la Umoja is expected to pitch camp in Vihiga County to counter the Kenya Kwanza alliance that had been crisscrossing the region to woo voters to support them ahead of the August 9 General Election.

Azimio la Umoja is set to start their campaign at Esibuye market in Emuhaya sub-County, then Chavakali and Mudete in Sabatia, Shamakhokho, Serem, Banga and Gambogi in Hamisi sub-county, and the grand rally will end at Kidundu stadium in Vihiga sub-county.

Nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi said the move is to sell Azimio la Umoja agenda to Kenyans within Vihiga County.

“We want to have a deal come August 9 General Election that is why we are going to tell the people what our plans are for this nation,” Osotsi said.

“We are not here to counter anything as it is being propagated. You cannot counter something that does not exist. We (Azimio) are the force, and no one can stand before us. We shall sweep them like a tsunami,” he added.

The Azimio la Umoja rally in the region will be led by deputy party leaders Wycliffe Oparanya and Hassan Joho, Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong’o, Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong, Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and other leaders.

On Wednesday, Azimio la Umoja was in Siaya County, where they drummed up support for Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.

However, the move has been treated as a strategy to counter Kenya Kwanza, which had pitched camp in Vihiga County from Sunday. They toured Emuhaya, Luanda, Vihiga, Hamisi and Sabatia.

While on the tour, Kenya Kwanza accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of plotting plans to stick in power via the back door.
