The National Assembly leadership has effected changes to the composition of House committees following a shakeup which saw many William Ruto allies removed from plum posts.

The DP's allies were kicked out of the plum jobs in the changes that were effected on February 2, 2022.

In the changes moved by Majority Whip Emmanuel Wangwe, the deposed committee chairs and deputy chairpersons will join other committees as members.

In the changes, Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni has been moved from the Constitution Implementation Oversight Committee to chair the Energy Committee replacing Nakuru East MP David Gikaria.

Eldas MP Adan Keynan has been moved from the NCIC committee and moved to the Defence and Foreign Relations committee.

Kajiado MP Katoo ole Metito, who chaired the Defence committee, was appointed a member of the Agriculture committee while Gikaria would serve in the Environment committee as a member.

Lunga Lunga MP Khatib Mwashetani has been moved from the Lands committee where he was vice-chairperson to be a member of the Trade Committee.

Samburu North MP Alloys Lentoimaga moved from the Trade committee to be a member of the Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee.

Lugari MP Ayub Savula has been moved from the Trade committee and is tipped to chair the Regional Integration Committee initially held by Bura MP Ali Wario.

Abdikaim Osman moved from Energy to Agriculture committee while Gathoni Wamuchomba has been moved to the ICT committee from Agriculture where she was vice-chair.

Maara MP Kareke Mbiuki was moved from the chairmanship of the Environment committee and would now be a member of the Trade Committee.

Markwet West MP William Kisang has been removed from the ICT committee chairmanship and would-be member of the Lands Committee.

Wario has been moved to the Energy Committee as a member and Johana Ngeno of Emurua Dikkir has been appointed member of the NCIC committee.

Majority Leader Amos Kimunya said the changes followed the reorganization of committees which removed some of the chairmen.

“We are now allocating them to a specific committee so that every member can participate in a committee. Some members requested for an extra committee,” the Kipipiri MP said.

Kimunya said the list was taken through a lot of consultation, a position that was seconded by Majority Whip Wangwe.

“I had talked with them and shared about the changes. We were in agreement that they have been done fairly and the distribution is well taken care of,” Wangwe said.
