East Africa Community CAS Ken Obura has resigned.

Obura announced his resignation on Tuesday to officially join politics ahead of the August 9, election.

He wants to run for the Kisumu governor seat.

"Pursuant to section 43(5) of the election act, I hereby tender my resignation from this office of CAS today February 8, 2022," he said.

Obura appreciated the president for giving him the opportunity to serve in his government to realise his development goals for the country.

He said he will focus on unseating governor Anyang' Nyongo whom he accused of allegedly running down the county government.

The former Kisumu Central MP reckoned that he will contest the seat on the ODM ticket.

He reiterated that he has teamed up with his other colleagues to unseat the Nyong'o.

Last week, Obura held a rally in the county where the announced they will be teaming up against Nyong'o.

The team include former governor Jack Ranguma, senator Fred Outa and former Kisumu speaker Onyango Oloo.
