Transport CAS Wavinya Ndeti has tendered her resignation following her political ambitions.
Ndeti who is popularly known for her "Yaliyo Ndwele Sipite" phrase said she is ready to re-join politics.
In a statement on Friday, Ndeti said it’s time for her to serve the people of Machakos.
"My dream is to serve my Machakos people to fully exploit their natural and creative resources. I am ready to take Machakos to the next level," she said.
She also said she intends to transform the county into a model of excellence in governance and economic prosperity.
"Although I will be running for governorship of Machakos county fully aware of the challenges on ground, I am armed with a strong resolve to put our county back on the path to prosperity."
Ndeti has been a CAS for two years. She resigned a few days after the Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua issued a notice detailing the deadline for the resignation of public servants seeking elective positions.
Wavinya's resignation comes after Tourism CAS Joseph Boinnet resigned from the seat on Thursday.
The former Inspector General of Police made the disclosure at a meeting with MPs at the sports committee.
“Today’s assignment is the last because I am tendering my resignation to seek a leadership position in the county where I was born and brought up,” Boinnet said.
Boinnet is set to vie for the Elgeyo Marakwet governor seat in the August 9, 2022 elections.
“I am going for the seat of Governor Elgeyo Marakwet. I wanted to thank this committee personally for the work we have done together over time,” he said.
