Uhuru arrives in Parliament for State of the Nation address

Security has been tightened in and around Parliament Buildings.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday arrived at Parliament Buildings for the State of the Nation address.

Uhuru's convoy arrived at 3pm.

The national anthem was then sang alongside the East African anthem as the flag was flown.

The President inspected a guard of honour as tunes were sang in the background.

Uhuru was received by his deputy William Ruto who had arrived earlier at Parliament Buildings.

He is expected to address a joint sitting of the Senate and the National Assembly.

Among the dignitaries present are Ruto, ODM party leader Raila Odinga, Chief Justice Martha Koome and National Assembly Majority leader Amos Kimunya.

Others are; Senate Majority leader Samuel Poghisio, deputy speakers Margaret Kamar, Moses Cheboi, Nairobi Governor Anne Kananu and NMS boss Mohammed Badi.

The dignitaries arrived at Parliament Buildings ahead of Uhuru's arrival.

The military mounted a guard of honour along Parliament Road awaiting the President's arrival.

Security has been tightened in and around Parliament Buildings.
