ODM leader on Saturday wound up his tour of Mt Kenya with a meeting of the Azimio La Umoja at the Ruringu Stadium in Nyeri town. 

Among those present were Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia, Laikipia's Ndiiritu Muriithi, Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Mbugua, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo and Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Passaris among others.

Odhiambo thanked the people of Nyeri for welcoming Raila with open arms, saying if she could have another spouse, she would pick him from the region.

On Thursday, Raila attended a series of events, with one in which his wife, Ida Odinga, was welcomed to the region and given the name 'Nyawira'.

Party of National Unity hosted a series a special interest caucuses with Raila ahead of Nyeri edition of Azimio La Umoja Rally.

The events are the climax of intense efforts by the opposition chief to cultivate the Mountain region in the last few months where PNU has conspicuously played the official chaperon of honor.

Raila has aggressively made inroads to the Mount Kenya region.

Saturday's event brings together cultural leaders from Kikuyu and Luo community.

Two months ago, Mt Kenya tycoons expressed their leaning towards Raila even as they declared the beginning of a grand search for President Uhuru Kenyatta's successor.

PNU leader, Nderitu Muriithi was the first governor to host Raila in Nanyuki for three days in August, before taking him on a road show from Nanyuki through Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a and Kiambu riding on the governor's official car that culminated in a rally at Githurai.

PNU was also the main host of the Raila tour around the mountain through Nanyuki, Isiolo, Meru and Embu ahead of Mashujaa day in Kirinyaga last month.
