A 30-year-old woman was on Tuesday charged before a Nairobi court with administering stupefying drug to a businessman's food and stealing Sh1,128,200 from him after a night of drinking.

Virginia Wangui is alleged that on May 29, 2021 at Rystas Guest House in Umoja Estate, jointly with another not before court, with intent to commit a felony namely stealing, administered Salicytes poisoning, a stupefying drug, to Bernard Cheruiyot Chirchir.

She was also charged that between May 29 and May 31, 2021 at the guest house, she stole a mobile phone valued at Sh30,000, one Equity Bank ATM card, national ID card and cash valued at Sh1.12 million, property of Chirchir.

According to a police report before court, on May 28, 2021 at around 10pm while at Avery Lounge in Embakasi, Chirchir and his friends who were taking beer together were joined by two women on their table.

The following day on May 29, the complainant and his friend were escorted by the two women to his friend’s car and went to Rystas guest house in Umoja estate where he booked a room with the two with intention of having more drinks.

It is reported that his friend later came into the room where Chirchir and the two women were having drinks and asked if they could leave for home but he asked to relax.

At some point, Chirchir fell asleep and left the two ladies enjoying the drinks.

"While in the room with the two ladies the complainant was at a point woken up by the two ladies who asked him to have a bite of some chicken and chips which they bought before booking the room.  A few minutes later the complainant felt dizzy and went into deep sleep" read the report in part.

At around 6am the same day, the watchman at Rystas guest house came to the room where the complainant was sleeping and tried to wake him up. When he woke up, the complainant complained of a serious headache.

The two ladies had already left without his knowledge.

When the complainant regained his consciousness, he noticed that he was robbed off Sh200,000 cash, his mobile phone, ID card and Equity Bank ATM card.

Its alleged that on May 31, the complainant visited Equity Bank to block any transaction since the ATM was stolen but realised the suspects had already done several transaction without his consent.
