KAA puts junk aircraft on auction

The Kenya Airports Authority has announced the public auction of uncollected 73 junk aircraft.

In a notice, the authority said that the auction dates will be from November 17- 22.

The list of uncollected junk aircrafts earmarked for disposal include Somali Air force with registration 8204 (Sh73,00), Somali Air force 3C-ZZA being auctioned at Sh73,00, Aerospace Consortium 4K-EXJ at Sh814,500, Jubba Airways 5Y-BXZ at Sh406,800.

Others are Jetlink 5Y-JLA at Sh187,00, Skyward 5Y-SIB at Sh62,600, Jetlink Sh69,175, Skyways 5Y-BMB at Sh38,250, Kate Flight at Sh52,007, 748 Air Services 9L-LFN at Sh19,500, and Planes For Africa S2-ADL at Sh5,000.

On November 17 at 10am, the auction will be at JKIA and Wilson Airport from 2.30pm on the same day.

The auction will be at Moi International Airport on November 19 from 10am, and on November 22 at 10am, it will be at Lokichoggio Airport.

Viewing dates will be from November 4 to 16, during normal working hours.

Interested purchasers have been asked to view the items on the given dates and verify their details as the items are being offered for sale on an “as-is-where-is” basis.

All interested purchasers will be required to pay a deposit of Sh100,000 per item on auction.

The authority said that where the bid price is lower than the deposit price, the bidder will be refunded the difference on presentation of the receipt.

“However, where the bid price is higher than the deposit, the bidder will need to pay not less than 25 per cent of the total value. The balance must be paid within 24 hours failure to which the award will be canceled and the deposit forfeited and the item sold to the second-highest bidder,” KAA said.

KAA said that all the purchased items shall be paid for and collected from respective Kenya Airports Authority premises within seven days from the date of auction, failure to which, the authority will charge storage at a rate of Sh10,000 per day until collection.

According to the authority, if the items are not collected within 14 days, the items will be forfeited to the authority.
