Kenya Breweries Limited has partnered with Kenya’s first running shoe company, Enda Sportswear, to produce high-performance running trainers dubbed ‘Tusker Mwanzo.’

KBL's MD John Musunga said the shoe has already been released to the market and is available for purchase from local sportswear stores.

"The partnership is aimed at producing a locally manufactured running shoe," he said.

Musunga said Kenyans also have a chance to win a pair of the shoes through participation in the ongoing Tusker’s Cheer our Champions national consumer promotion.

"This is in line with the brand’s ongoing Kenya Milele campaign that seeks to celebrate and support Kenyans from all walks of life," Musunga said.

Musunga said the partnership is founded on shared goals and ambitions between the two companies.

“Being a Kenyan company that is centred on celebrating everything that is proudly and loudly Kenyan, the fit with Enda was seamless and we know such collaborations will strengthen the belief and resolve of Kenyans to support their own as part of the Buy Kenya build Kenya Initiative," he said.

Enda Sportswear CEO Navalayo Osembo said they are honoured to work with Tusker on the project.

"Both Enda and Tusker are Kenyan brands that celebrate Kenyan excellence and the spirit of friendship and community. Both brands have also been accepted globally as part of Kenyan culture. This partnership made perfect sense and we hope it encourages more Kenyan brands to collaborate,”she said.

The president has been a champion in the 'buy Kenya build Kenya' initiative.

The President himself has been in the front line to ensure that he does what he preaches.

During his press briefings since last year, the president has been wearing shirts that are made locally.

His attention-stealing shirts have caught the collective eye of Kenyans and the internet.

The eye-catching shirts have made people talk and admire them with others asking where they can get similar shirts and at what cost.

All the shirts are designed and made by Rivatex East Africa Limited, a textile factory based in Eldoret.

Shirts similar to those worn by Uhuru cost Sh2,000 and above, according to Rivatex.
