The Teachers Service Commission has lauded teachers who went above and beyond to ensure KCPE and KCSE exams were delivered.

Speaking on Thursday during the release of KCPE results at the Knec headquarters in Nairobi, TSC  CEO Nancy Macharia congratulated them, saying that they will be awarded for their sacrifice

“I can assure the country that we have no intention of punishing any teacher who goes beyond the call of duty to help our learners,” Macharia said.

This comes following reports that Magdalene Kimani, the principal of Sosiani High School, was castigated by ministry officials for sharing her story of how she walked 20km daily to deliver KCSE exams.

She added that a number of the center managers woke up early to ensure they got to exam containers in time to pick the papers.

Macharia said, “When we get the list from the Knec, we shall recognize and reward such teachers including those who went beyond the call of duty to deliver credible examination.”

Macharia said that the 2020 KCPE examination exercise involved 28,467 center managers, 28,711 supervisors, 72,360 invigilators, and 4,756 examiners.

A total of 1,181,725 registered for the exam but 1,179,182 sat the paper.

The ministry said that 2,543 candidates who registered for KCPE did not sit for the exam.

During the announcement, Education CS George Magoha said that all the students will be able to get their results, even those involved in irregularities.

Magoha said that President Uhuru Kenyatta asked the ministry to release the results of seven students who were caught cheating and their cases will be handled later.

Also, the CS said that all candidates will transition to secondary schools.
