Interfaith Council chair Archbishop Anthony Muheria says he has contracted Covid-19 and is under treatment at the Mater Hospital in Nairobi.
In a message sent to fathers of Nyeri Archdiocese, Muheria thanked everyone for their continued prayers.
"God has shown me his love, and your love with a lot of prayers sent and promised, for me and for so many other Covid patients who are also our own in various hospitals and homes," he said.
"I plead with you to continue praying for all theses our brothers and sisters who may be going through a difficult time in this time of covid-19 and need. Thank you once more."
Muheria said he has improved slightly and can now eat and sleep well.
"However I am still on oxygen as they continue treating me. I remember you all in prayer, whenever I can say my rosaries and other silent prayers in my state," he said.
"Finally Please become ambassadors of compliance in our homes, meetings and funerals. Please let us lead the way of responsibility."
Since the beginning of the month, Kenya has recorded 14,927 positive cases and lost 274 people.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Monday convened a special National Emergency Response Committee meeting to deliberate on the rising of Covid-19 cases.
The meeting discussed current containment measures and issues affecting health workers.
So far, 30 healthcare workers have succumbed to the virus. Of the number, 10 are specialist doctors.
The Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union threatened to call a strike should the government fail to look into their plight.
