LSK Chairman Nelson Havi on Wednesday engaged in a Twitter spat with Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua over society CEO Mercy Wambua's position.

Wambua and Havi have been engaged in a battle with the latter firing the CEO on allegations of embezzlement of over Sh 70 million from the society.

Wambua has, however, stayed put and nine council members have stood behind her saying she is still the CEO.

The wrangles worsened with Havi putting out a notice with her photo on his social media platforms saying Wambua is no longer the CEO and should not carry out any business on behalf of LSK.

It is this post that Karua told off Havi for, saying that "Your council overruled you on this @lawsocietykenya."

However, Havi, in a quick rejoinder, asked Karua to let him lead the LSK as he knows best.

"I respect you because you share a year of birth with my mother. On matters LSK, let me serve those who elected me. Asante sana Senior," he said.

This comment did not stop Karua from asking further questions.

"I respect you as a son but this does not in any way hinder me from exercising my right as a member to hold you to account as president of LSK," she said.

Havi told Karua that Wambua has to account for the loss of tens of millions.

"Matters finance and accountability are not to be voted on as you erroneously suggest. We will not be guilt tripped when dealing with thieves," he said.

But Karua told Havi that when the council overrules you, the expectation is that you respect that or call a special AGM where members can have the final say.

"If a crime has been committed as you claim, call in police rather than attack @lawsocietykenya CEO continuously . In other words lead by example," she said.

Two weeks ago, their fight took an ugly turn amid a call to the ICT office to delete Wambua's official email accounts.

Havi directed ICT officer Geoffrey Karani to delete the accounts, saying Wambua's contract had expired. Havi claimed that the CEO’s contract had ended in March.

The LSK boss also sought control of the society’s social media platforms in his call to the IT team to surrender credentials of the said pages.

Havi asked Karani to confirm the identities of all staff members who have access and control of email addresses and the official LSK Twitter handle.

Wambua has maintained that she is rightfully in office. “Whatever you have seen is the decision of the president. He has no powers to veto the council,” she said.
