Omboko Milemba, Rozaah Buyu tops list of best performing MPs

Isiolo South MP Abdi Koroputepo is the worst performing legislator with 33.0 percent.

Emuhaya MP Omboko Milemba has been ranked as the best performing legislator.

I a poll survey released by Infotrak on Sunday, Milemba is ranked in position 1 with 75.4 per cent.

The survey seeking to establish how constituents rated the overall performance of their Governor/Senator/Women Rep/MCA/ MP on a scale of 1-10 was conducted between November/December 2019 – January 2020.

 
 

A pilot survey was conducted between August and September 2019.

A total of 37,600 respondents were interviewed across the 47 counties.

According to the survey, Milembe is followed by Emurua Dikiri MP Johana Ngeno with 71.4 percent followed in the third position by Mwala's Vincent Musyoka with 70.8 per cent.

Christopher Aseka of Khwisero is fourth with 70 percent and Patrick Musimba of Kibwezi West ends the top five best performing legislators with 69.8 per cent.

Sigor's Peter Lochakapong, Pokot South David Pkosing, Kathiani's Robert Mbui, Mumias East Benjamin Washiali and Mbooni's Kivasu Nzioka are in position 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 with 68.5, 68.2, 67.6, 67.3 and 67.2 per cent respectively.

According to the survey, Isiolo South MP Abdi Koroputepo is the worst performing legislator with 33.0 percent.

Kangema's Clement Muturi is second last with 36.3 percent with Molo's Francis Kuria scoring 37.0 percent.

 
 

Taveta MP Naomi Shaban tops the list of top five women MPs with 61.6 percent.

She is followed by Kitui West MP Edith Nyenze with 58.4 per cent, Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda with 57.5 per cent, Maragwa's Mary Njoroge with 56.8 per cent and Malindi's Aisha Jumwa with 53.3 per cent.

On the other hand, Kisumu county woman rep Rozaah Buyu tops the list of top-performing women reps with 61.5 per cent.

She is followed closely by Homa Bay's Gladys Wanga with 61.0 per cent with Lamu's Ruweida Mohamed coming third with 60.8 per cent.

Samburu's Leshoomo Maison is fourth with 59.1 per cent as Makueni's Rose Museo closing the list of top five with 57.6 per cent.

In the same category, Kiambu's Gathoni Wamuchomba is the worst performing woman rep with 39.0 per cent.

Trans Nzoia's Janet Nangabo is second last with 39.6 per cent as Nyamira's Jerusha Mongina takes third last with 39.6 per cent.

While Nairobi's Esther Passatris is ranked position 31 with 44.6 per cent, Mombasa's Asha Hussein is ranked at 41 with 42.0 per cent.

Butere MP Nicholas Tindi Mwale is ranked first place with 58.1 per cent among the best performing youthful MPs.

Chuka/Igambangombe's Patrick Ntwiga is second in that category with 57.6 per cent followed by Saboti's Caleb Amisi with 54.9 per cent.

Igembe South MP Paul Mwirigi is fourt with 53.8 per cent with Embakasi East MP Babu Owino closing the list of top five with 52.2 per cent.

Last month Mzalendo Trust exposed some 22 legislators from both the Senate and National Assembly who did not utter a word on the floor of Parliament for a year.

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, a fierce defender of Deputy President William Ruto, his Makadara counterpart George Aladwa and Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama were among those who said nothing in Parliament in 2019.

Others who had not spoken were  Shinyalu MP Justus Kizito, Alfred Sambu of Webuye East and John Naicca of Mumias West.

From North Eastern, Abdi Shurie of Balambala and Amina Gedow from Mandera were cited for not speaking.

From Nyanza, Walter Owino of Awendo did not say a word in the plenary.

The others are James Gakuya of Embakasi North, Geofrey King'ang'i of Mbeere South, Stanley Muthama (Lamu West), Abdi Tepo (Isiolo South), Ahmed Bashane (Tarbaj), Amin Deddy (Laikipia East), Beatrice Kones (Bomet East), Gideon Konchella (Kilgoris), James Lusweti (Kabuchai), and Makueni Woman Representative Rose Mumo.

Vocal Bahati MP Onesmus Ngunjiri, Mark Nyamitta (Uriri), Silas Tiren (Moiben) also did not do well. 

In the Senate, Busia's Amos Wako, who is a former Attorney General and member of the Building Bridges Initiative, was among five lawmakers who did not open their mouths in 2019.

Senators Mercy Chebeni, Christine Zawadi Gona, and Philip Mpaayei also did not speak for a year.

Overall, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo was the most active member with 334 speech counts followed by David Sankok (nominated), Wilberforce Oundo (Funyula), and Robert Pukose (Endebess).

In the Senate, the top performers were Ledama Olekina (Narok) with 461 counts followed by Bungoma’s Moses Wetang'ula, Aaron Cheruiyot of Kericho, Migori’s Ochillo Ayako, and Getrude Msuruve (nominated).
