ODM has rubbished claims it is plotting to cause leadership turmoil in Musalia Mudavadi's ANC party.

Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna said the Raila Odinga-led party has no reason to stage a coup against Mudavadi who he said is already on a mode of self-destruction.

"We reiterate that the stated policy of ODM party is that of non-interference in internal workings of other political parties," he said.

Sifuna was reacting to claims by Lugari MP Ayub Savula that he was approached by some ODM members to dislodge Mudavadi from the helm of ANC.

But Sifuna challenged Savula to make public the names of the officials who approached him to remove the party leader.

"We challenge Savula to reveal the senior official of ODM he alleges approached him with the coup plot," he said.

Sifuna tore into Mudavadi saying the former deputy prime minister is on a round the clock coup plot against himself.

"Musalia Mudavadi is a one gear lorry hurtling down a hill unaided, on a long term self destruct mode that has never needed the assistance of Raila to crush into oblivion, " he said.

Sifuna's sentiments came moments after Nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi now claimed that Mudavadi's term as ANC party leader expires next Monday on June 15.

Osotsi called on the party to conduct grassroots polls to elect new officials.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Osotsi who claims to be the founder of the Amani National Congress said the party's constitution provides that leaders hold office for five years after which an election should be done.

Sifuna also waded into the ongoing wrangles between the Judiciary and the Executive saying the happenings are not healthy for the country's growth.

The SG urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to reach out to Chief Justice David Maraga to solve the problem amicably.

Meanwhile, the Orange party has confirmed that it's director in charge of Youth Affairs Benson Musungu is recuperating at the Agha Khan Hospital after he contracted Covid-19.

Musungu tested positive for the virus last week after he developed a fever that developed into severe body pain.

The SG called on the party officials and staff who might come into close contact with Musungu to self-quarantine.

The party has planned to fumigate the Chungwa House building to protect staff and officials visiting the offices.
