A group of 21 MPs from Western Kenya on Monday accused ODM leader Raila Odinga of fomenting trouble in Ford-Kenya.

The group, which was joined by ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang'ula, said Raila should respect the leadership of western region and "stop taking the Luhya community for granted".

Save for the scathing statements, they did not provide evidence against the ODM chief.

"He is behaving like a rude guest and encouraging rudeness in young leaders, " the MPs said in a signed statement read by Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa.

Addressing the press at Wetang'ula's home in Karen, the MPs asked Cotu boss Francis Atwoli, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya to stop speaking on behalf of Luhyas.

"Our leaders are Mudavadi and Wetang'ula. If you are not with our leaders, then you have signed your political death warrant, " the statement added.

But on Sunday, ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna rubbished similar sentiments from Mudavadi, who had linked Wetang’ula ouster to Raila.

Sifuna told Mudavadi that ODM had no business in Ford Kenya and neither should the ANC leader.

“It is in public domain that Mudavadi has been holding meetings with politicians of different shades in the past few weeks. We have neither raised any issue about it, nor begrudged him the right to chart his own political future,” he said.

On Monday, Mudavadi said leaders of western region want their position to be respected.

“We will not allow anybody to put political ventilators on us,” he stated.

He added that as leaders from western, they will not keep quiet when the fundamental rights of Kenyans are violated.

“We want to be persuaded with logic. We don't want people to persuade us with a gun on the table,” Mudavadi added.

Wetang’ula said the community in western will not keep on supporting leaders from other region favours.

“If someone asks you to scratch their back but when you go to them to scratch yours, they tell you to do it on the wall. That person is evil, wicked, thankless and an unwanted partner,” he stated.

MPs present included Didmus Barasa, Ben Washiali, Sakwa Bunyasi, Ferdinand Wanyonyi, John Waluke, Nasri Sahal, Alfred Agoi, Tindi Mwale, Dan Wanyama, Christopher Aseka and Malulu Injendi.

The MPs said leaders from other regions should not think they can use western to ascend to the top.

They further said matters concerning western cannot be discussed in venues outside the region.

Tongaren MP Simuiyu Eseli had earlier in the day accused Wetang’ula of not giving the party direction during the period he has been in office.

“It gets to a point when people realise you are leading them to no where and they decide that they want some new direction,” he said on his Twitter account.

He stated that for three consecutive elections, Ford Kenya has not had fielded a presidential candidate yet parties are supposed to also eye the top most seat.
