Walter Githinji “Jimmy Wayuni” who died on Tuesday was a diligent, prolific, creative, and talented musician with a melodious voice Deputy President William Ruto has said.

Ruto described the late celebrated secular artist as a humble, resilient, and focused man.

The Benga musician died on Tuesday evening in a road accident along the Thika superhighway.

His car allegedly rammed into a lorry at Kahawa Sukari near Githurai 45, while on the way from Ruiru, Kiambu county.

Wayuni is known for his popular songs such as Airítu a Ruiru, Mama Sululu, Wayuni Útúire Uhenagia, among others.

"Through his numbers, Jimmy Wayuni advocated for social justice, condemned bad governance, glorified good leadership, and worked towards bringing people together,' Ruto tweeted on Wednesday.

"Our heartfelt prayers and sympathies go to the wife, children, fans, and the wider music fraternity at this sorrowful time".
